One of the most touching parts of their story came from Emily Simin, Nick’s proud mom, who shared the moment Nick proposed to Austyn during their 2024 trip to Positano, Italy after seven years of being together. With the sparkling coastline behind them, Nick got down on one knee and asked Austyn to spend forever with him.

As they boarded their tour bus, a small group of strangers applauded, adding an extra layer of magic to an already unforgettable moment.

Their whirlwind romance began unexpectedly. Austyn had just moved to Calgary while Nick was preparing for a move abroad to South Korea. Despite the distance, their connection was immediate.

They supported each other through a three-month separation, a test that only strengthened their bond. A fun twist to their story is that Austyn lived with Nick’s mom before she ever lived with Nick, a unique chapter that still brings smiles.

Austyn’s little family includes herself, her partner Nick, and their sassy cat, Lily. Together for seven years, Austyn and Nick share a deep love for travel and adventure. Their journey took them abroad to England, where they explored twelve countries, creating lasting memories, from late-night gelato in Italy to breathtaking hikes in Wales, that forever shaped their view of the world. Lily, their fearless and well-traveled feline, has tagged along to France, England, and Wales, always calm, curious, and perfectly embodying their shared spirit of exploration.

Since returning from England, Austyn and Nick have made Bowness their home, living in a unique property with Nick’s mom in the back house. They cherish the close-knit, small-town feel, surrounded by friendly neighbors and peaceful riverside views, perfect for spending summer days with their pets or hosting friends. Some of their favorite local spots include the river by the bridge, Leopold’s Tavern for wings, and Baker Park for relaxing walks. These hidden gems have only deepened their love for the community they now call home.

Their family traditions are built around laughter-filled game nights, holiday marathons of National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, and outdoor adventures like floating down the river, camping, and playing spikeball. These simple joys reflect their deep appreciation for quality time and shared experiences.

Both ambitious and driven, Austyn as a dedicated teacher and Nick as a talented engineer, they support each other’s dreams while embracing life’s adventures together, from skydiving to trying something new whenever they can. With Austyn’s roots in Saskatchewan and Red Deer, and Nick’s in Calgary, their unique backgrounds blend beautifully, creating a grounded, steady rhythm at the heart of their love.

Described as ambitious, loyal, and well-balanced, Austyn and Nick hold honesty, resilience, and personal growth close to their hearts. Among her favorite memories is a trip to Florida with her dad, filled with laughter, adventure, and even a heatstroke mishap. Nick treasures the quiet wisdom of his grandfather, whose love for math and logic left a lasting mark. Both of their fathers embody the calm strength, hard work, and humor that Austyn and Nick admire and strive to carry forward in their own lives.

Austyn believes in bold choices and often asks herself, “Will I regret not doing this?” She avoids comparison, choosing instead to focus on her own journey. With a heart open to change and a spirit grounded in intention, she lives for the memories that last a lifetime.
