RON E. SCOTT–Creator, Showrunner, Director is an award-winning Showrunner and Director with over twenty years of industry experience. After graduating from Vancouver Film School in 1993, he founded Prairie Dog Film + Television and has since become a prominent figure in the world of independent television production. Ron is well versed in creating multi layered, socially conscious, relevant subject matter and content, from the dramatic crime genre TRIBAL to the aggressive and challenging commentary of BLACKSTONE. He has been involved in creating four scripted series and his projects have been nominated for over 140 Awards,including Best Dramatic Series and Best Dramatic Writing at the Canadian Screen Awards. As a prolific producer and innovator, he has contributed to over 190 episodes of TV that have broadcast globally on Netflix, such as the ground-breaking one-hour dramatic series BLACKSTONE, now streaming on APTN and CBC. Scott has been honored with the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal, as well as an Achievement in Artistic Direction Award and an Ambassador of the Arts Award at the Mayor’s Celebration of the Arts in Edmonton, Alberta. Scott was also recognized in the House of Commons as the recipient of the prestigious 2015 Indspire Award for the Arts in Canada.
Scott serves on the boards of the Canadian Media Producers Association (CMPA), the Alberta Film Advisory Council, and the Alliance of Aboriginal Media Professionals. He is a member of the ACCT, AMPIA, DGC, WGC, the Aboriginal Filmmakers Program at the NFB, and the Metis Nation of Alberta. He has acted as a consultant with Telefilm Canada and the Alberta Foundation for the Arts. Scott also volunteers his time to speak at conferences, festivals, and seminars, including the Banff World Media Festival, DGC Indigenous Voices, Bell Media Diverse Screenwriting Program (WGC), Industry Canada(ABC), Dream speakers,E-Spirit, the National Aboriginal Achievement Foundation, the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT), Innoversity Creative Summit, Cultural Industries Training Fund (CITF), the imagine NATIVE Film Festival and the Calgary International Film Festival (CIFF).
TRIBAL
The department of Federal Justice attempts to save political face under the mask of inclusion and collaboration as they take control of the Tribal Police Force that governs the four Indian Reserves surrounding the city.
Interim Tribal Chief Samantha Woodburn (Jessica Matten) attempts to overcome political red tape and must also prove herself among the old-white-boys club of the Metro Police.
Thrust into an unfamiliar world, she navigates politics and procedure as she clashes with her new partner, Chuck “Buke” Bukansky (Brian Markinson), a seasoned but broken-down Metro Police detective.

TRIBAL began production on May 29, 2019 and wrapped July 26, 2019. The season features eight, one hour episodes to premiere Thursday, February 20, 2020 on APTN. Filming locations for TRIBAL Season One include Calgary and the Tsuu T’ina First Nation in Alberta, Canada.

JESSICA MATTEN as Samantha Woodburn (“Sam”)
Jessica Matten is of Red River Metis-Cree descent and is directly a descendant of Cuthbert Grant, the first rebel Metis leader famously known for the Battle of the Seven Oaks in Canada.Jessica stars in Season 3 of Discovery Canada & Netflix's TV show, FRONTIER, with Jason Momoa. She also can be seen in the new CW Network and CBC drama alongside Kristin Kruek in BURDEN OF TRUTH. Jessica will also appear in the upcoming comic adaptation movie,The Empty Man for 20th Century Fox studios, filmed in Cape Town,South Africa. Jessica is on three Canadian Screen Award nominated and winning shows: FRONTIER, BLACKSTONE and MOHAWK GIRLS. She has developed a cult following in North America for her performance in the starring role of Elle-Maija Tailfeather's short film,A Red Girl's Reasoning. The film premiered at various festivals in Canada and the United States, taking home awards for "Best Canadian Action Short" at the prestigious Imagine NATIVE Film Festival. It was awarded at the Crazy 8s Film Festival, Vancouver International Film Festival, LA Skins Film Fest in Los Angeles, and nominated at the American Indian Film Institute in San Francisco 2012.
Jessica also starred in Gemini Award winning PILGRIMS, which was an official selection for the Cannes Film Festival and the Toronto International Film Festival 2013.In addition to acting, Jessica runs an Aboriginal wellness and fitness company with her family called Lemon Cree,where they have helped thousands of Aboriginal people achieve their fitness, wellness,and health goals. She also runs the viral campaign N8Vgirls to help spread awareness globally on the issue of murdered and missing Indigenous women in Canada.
Jessica ran multiple monthly articles and the magazine "Active Cree"was distributed monthly to 60,000 people and 10 communities across the James Bay area throughout Northern Ontario.Jessica and her mother have been guest speaker’s across North America for"Indigenous Women Breaking Barriers: A Mother and Daughter Story".Jessica also instructs acting workshops, and has had many wonderful success stories with the youth over the years.
BRIAN MARKINSON as Chuck Bukansky (“Buke”)
Brian Markinson started his career in the New York theater scene, performing on Broadway in Neil Simon's Pulitzer Prize and Tony award winning Lost in Yonkers and off-Broadway in Elliot Loves, directed by Mike Nichols. Brian has gone on to work with Nichols in multiple films including Wolf, Primary Colors, multi Emmy award winning mini-series Angels in America and Charlie Wilson's War. He has worked with Woody All extensively, appearing in Sweet and Lowdown, Small Time Crooks and The Curse of the Jade Scorpion. Other film credits include Godzilla,Shooter and Enemy of the State.Brian was nominated for a Gemini Award for his role as James Roszko in the film Mayerthorpe. With over 100 television credits, he's recurred in the critically acclaimed FX series FARGO, AMC’s MAD MEN, Sundance TV’s mini series UNSPEAKABLE as well as GIRLFRIEND'S GUIDE TO DIVORCE, ROGUE and ROMEO SECTION; for which he was nominated for a Canadian Screen Award. Brian is currently sharing a screen with Hilary Swank in Netflix’s newest series, AWAY.He lives in Vancouver, Canada with his wife and two sons.
MICHELLE THRUSH plays the Mother of Sam and Justin Rain (Ryan Streit) plays her love interest.
RYAN STREIT played by Justin Rain
Ryan Streitis Sam’s boyfriend. He’s supportive of Sam’s family life, although occasionally he feels jealous of Sam's demanding new job.He thinks he knows and understands what’s best for Sam;what he doesn’t know is that Samis not about to let him get in the way of her duties, or her professional advancement.
MITCH WHEELER played by Ryan Northcott
Mitch Wheeler is a member of the city police forensic support team, but TRIBAL uses him to help with evidence gathering and more detailed office paper work.He’s a fit, square-jawed Metro cop, who is generally a nice guy within the Metro police. He urges Buke to reminisce about the old days, when the department was a Wild West place where anything went. When it comes to his job, he's a hands-on professional who works closely with Sam on her current cases.
